2nd
International Symposium on 10-12
October, 2007 |
BVAI 2007 is organized by researchers of the
Istituto di Cibernetica “Eduardo Caianiello” (ICIB)
of the Italian National
Research Council (CNR),
Pozzuoli, Naples, involved in Neural, Visual and Cognitive Models of
Natural and Artificial Systems. Support is provided by the Istituto
Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici (IISF).
The conference venue is Palazzo Serra di Cassano, Naples.
BVAI
2007 is a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary symposium aimed to
gather scientists involved in the study of Brain, Vision and
Intelligence, from both the Natural and the Artificial point of view.
The underlying idea is that to advance in each of the above research
topics, integration with and attention to the others is necessary.
BVAI 2007 main research areas are: The Basic Brain, Natural Vision, Artificial Vision, and Artificial Intelligence. Topics for the expected contributions are listed in BVAI 2007 Scientific Program.
BVAI 2007 proceedings will include all contributions, accepted after peer reviewing of full paper submissions, and will be published by Springer Verlag in the series “Lecture Notes in Computer Science”.
In addition, extended versions of selected BVAI 2007 papers will be published, after peer reviewing, in two special issues of international journals: Brain Research and International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, respectively for papers dealing with "natural" and "artificial" aspects.

Sponsors
of BVAI 2007 include EBSA
(European Biophysical Societies' Association), GIRPR
(Gruppo Italiano Ricercatori in Pattern Recognition), IISF
(Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici), NEATEC
SpA, SINS (Italian Society for
Neurosciences) and MARS.
To encourage participation of young researchers to
BVAI 2007: EBSA will offer two travel grants, 400 euros each, to two
students from outside Italy and SINS and GIRPR
will offer each a 400 euros grant to one Italian student. Applicants should explicitly point out
their student status (graduate, PhD student) in the email message
accompanying their BVAI 2007 submissions. BVAI 2007 organizers will
select the most deserving students.
BVAI 2007 is held under the
auspices of AI*IA
(Associazione Italiana per l'Intelligenza Artificiale), SIBPA
(Società Italiana di Biofisica Pura e Applicata), and with the
help of the MQC2 (Macroscopic
Quantum Coherence and Computing).
