The scientific program includes six invited talks and contributed papers that will be presented in plenary oral or poster sessions.

Prospective contributors are encouraged to submit papers and to attend BV&AI 2005. Each paper will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. Accepted papers will be included in the proceedings volume, published by Springer-Verlag in the series Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
Extended versions of selected BV&AI 2005 papers will be published, after peer reviewing, in two special issues of BioSystems (for papers dealing with natural aspects), and International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (for papers dealing with artificial aspects).
